The memory span game is a game with a purpose. The purpose is to give your mind and brain a workout. The task requires the use of concentration, working memory, memory chunking, and mental sequencing of verbal, visual, and spatial information.
The concept of the game is simple. Carefully watch the sequence of highlighted items, and then touch the items in the same order they were displayed. Each level starts off easy, and becomes more difficult. The sequence becomes longer each time you successfully recall a correct sequence. Each trial has a minimum sequence that you must meet in order to advance to the next level. Half rounds may take 5 minutes to play, and a full round may take up to 10 minutes.
The game has 3 levels of play. Half-Round More Verbal contains 5 rounds that include more verbal information (such as letters and numbers). Half-Round More Nonverbal includes stimuli of a mostly nonverbal nature (such as pictures of objects). Full Round contains all 10 rounds and may take up to 10 minutes to play a full round.
To get the maximum benefit, play the game at least once or twice daily. Make sure you have approximately 10 minutes set aside for play to a full round. It may take a week or slightly more for you to begin to notice an improvement in your scores. Don't be discouraged if you don't notice immediate improvement. These are skills that require continued practice to improve.
